Meet the Team

Phyllis Bancroft, Founder

Phyllis is a multifaceted creator who has directed and produced numerous award-winning short films and theater performances in NY & LA.  Including the Emmy-nominated web-series, “Send Me,” where she evoked spirited performances from notable TV actors and “SPENT,” which won the BET Lens on Talent Prize of $100,000 for Best Film.

With a passion for cultivating the creativity of younger generations, she is a LAUSD Arts Partner, CEO and Master Teaching Artist who has also taught Story Structure at UCLA Extension.

She earned degrees in Creative Writing (B.A., Antioch University, Los Angeles) and Production (M.F.A., the American Film Institute Conservatory.) Phyllis discovered her passion for theater in high school at Wesleyan University’s Center for Creative Youth.

Faith Lewis, Assistant

Faith Lewis is passionate about environmental justice and believes that every person has the right to live, work, and play in a healthy environment. Faith has a deep personal and familial connection to entertainment and is enthusiastic about representation within the field. Dance is another one of her lifelong joys.

An enthusiastic communicator and connector, Faith graduated magna cum laude from American University with a B.A. in Environmental Studies and Economics and a minor in International Studies, where she was an AU Honors Scholars, a Department of Mathematics & Statistics Hana Sandler Book Awardee, and the recipient of a Congressional Black Caucus Spouses Education Scholarship.

An aspiring public interest and environmental lawyer, Faith will enter Yale Law School in Fall 2020.

Amber Wells, Social Media Coordinator

Amber Wells is a radiant Northern California resident, and a 2019 graduate of Sacramento State
University with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. During her time at Sac State, Amber was a 4-year National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) athlete in Women’s Rowing, and graduated with honors. 

Since graduating, Amber has signed to a top model agency out of San Francisco, CA and works
with children and families in the legal field. She has a passion for writing, entertainment, and social justice, and hopes to incorporate all of them into the shaping of her career.

Amber believes in using her interests to help uplift others, leading her to the Kids Movie Fest
team. It is here that she is able to use all of her skills to contribute to who she views as the most
vital part of society— children.

 

 

Carson Alexander Lewis, Videographer

Carson Alexander Lewis is a sound designer based in Los Angeles. While he’s a lover of all things sound, he has a specific passion for video game audio. Carson holds a Master of Fine Arts in Sound Design from Savannah College of Arts and Design and a Bachelor of Science in Music Composition & Technology with a Minor in Music Recording from Northeastern University.

When not crafting weird sounds, you can find him playing games with friends, and catching up on the latest anime episodes and Kpop comebacks.

Jackson Lewis, Spokesperson

Jackson Lewis is an incoming sophomore at Fordham University Lincoln Center (’23). Majoring in theatre, he works to sharpen his performative talents. Week-to-week, however, he most looks forward to learning about his community. His primary aim is to push humanitarian and environmental work at his school forwards.

In his spare time, he enjoys sharpening his gaming skills, scouring YouTube for animal rescue videos, and journaling.

Zshekinah Collier, Web Marketing Manage

Zshekinah Collier is a New Haven, CT native, and a 2020 graduate from American University where she received a B.A in Justice and Law with a Criminology concentration and a Communication minor. She was also a Community-Based Research Scholar and Co-Editor-in-Chief of The Blackprint Magazine.

In middle school, she fell in love with writing about injustices and aspires to be an investigative journalist. She is passionate about diversifying the media, making information accessible, and using journalism as a tool for social justice, advocacy, and fostering dialogue.

Entertainment and the arts have played a significant role in Zshekinah’s life. In her free time, she enjoys singing, watching TV, and learning to cook plant-based meals.
